Espresso Setups for Small Kitchens

Plan an espresso station around real counter width, cabinet clearance, water access, heat, cords and daily cleanup.

Measure the operating envelope

Machine width is only the beginning. Add room to remove the water tank, open the hopper, lock in the portafilter, move the steam wand and remove the drip tray.

Protect the workflow

A compact setup becomes frustrating when the grinder must be moved for every shot or the water tank cannot be reached. Keep tools close while keeping wet items away from electrical connections.

  • Top-fill clearance
  • Portafilter handle swing
  • Steam-wand movement
  • Drip-tray removal
  • Grinder hopper or bellows clearance
  • A safe place for hot pitchers

Compare the complete station

A tiny manual machine may require a kettle and separate milk frother. A slightly larger integrated machine may occupy less total working space.
