Count the real drinks

A machine for two straight espressos each morning has different demands from one serving six large milk drinks after dinner. Write down drink types, users and peak sequence before comparing specifications.

Match workflow to demand

Household patternFeatures to examine
Mostly straight espressoTemperature control, grinder, warm-up
One milk drink at a timeSteam quality and transition time
Several milk drinksDual heating, steam recovery, reservoir size
Many usersProgrammability, simple controls, cleanup
Occasional useWarm-up, storage and low retained coffee

Do not overbuy unused capacity

A larger boiler or more complex machine can cost more, warm more slowly and take more space. Buy for a realistic peak routine, not an imagined café.

The grinder and water plan should be budgeted with the machine. They are part of drink quality and ownership.
